Immersion probes allow direct absorption measurements of liquid samples by simply immersing the probe tip into a suitable vessel containing the sample.
The vessel can be almost any size from a small beaker to a large vat. Standard laboratory probes can withstand high and low temperatures and are inert to all but the most aggressive chemicals. Optical pathlengths from 2 to 40mm are available as interchangeable screw-in tips.
Reactions can be monitored directly in a vessel thanks to the very fast scanning speeds of the spectrometer. Additionally, immersion probes can be installed directly into sample streams, such as steel pipes in industrial plants, for monitoring and control purposes.
AstraNet offers the Romack range of process control probes, which are designed for heavy duty cycles and high temperatures/pressures. Other examples include measurements inside a glove box, or in a fume cupboard in the case of toxic samples.
